Summer Program

 

Craigleith Summer Programs and Covid-19


 

Craigleith Summer Programs are underway with the opening of the tennis courts on June 9th and the pool opening on Wednesday July 1st!

We are committed to the health and well-being of our Summer Program members, staff and guests, We have established precautionary measures consistent with public health guidelines and industry best practices and ask that you follow these protocols to ensure a safe experience for everyone:

  • Practice safe physical distancing of at least 2 meters (6 feet) apart, throughout the grounds;
  • Exercise good hygiene including proper handwashing;
  • Use of hand sanitizer, supplied near the courts and in the washrooms;
  • Stay at home if you feel unwell or are experiencing any symptoms of Covid 19 including cough, fever, respiratory problems or sudden loss of smell or taste;
  • Follow all federal and provincial health guidelines relating to travel and isolation requirements after travel
  • Advise, in confidence, Summer Program Manager (Margot Allen), if you or anyone in your household, tests positive for Covid 19
  • Additional changes may be required by public health authorities as the season goes on.

 

Additional Pool Protocols include: 

  • All members will be required to pre-book their swim times.
  • Pool hours are 10:30 am – 6 pm daily.
  • There are 6 1-hour time slots per day with a 15-minute break for cleaning and transition between time slots.
  • To start, a total of 25 members will be permitted to use the pool in each 1-hour time spot.  If this number is too high for social distancing, it will be adjusted.
  • At this time, there are no limits on the number of bookings each member may make per day or per week, however this will be monitored to ensure reasonable and fair access to all members.
  • A staff monitor will be on site confirming registrations, promoting social distancing and cleaning.
  • A maximum of 2 guests per family per time slot will be allowed and will be billed to the member account.  Guests must be accompanied by the member.
  • The washrooms/changerooms are small, therefore use is limited to 1 person at a time, with the exception being those from the same immediate family.
  • Hand sanitizer is supplied in the washrooms, and all members and guests are also encouraged to carry personal wipes/hand sanitizer to help assist with prevention and cleanliness.
  • Chairs have been removed from the deck.  There are tape markings on the pool deck spaced 2 meters apart indicating where people can sit.  You may bring your own foldable chairs if you wish.
  • All members are required to sign a summer program waiver and will need to register for our website to have access to the booking system.
  • Instructions on how to reserve your swim time will be sent once opening day is confirmed. 
 Please note that the swimming pool is registered with the province as a "Class B" pool. This classification means that all bathers must be over the age of 12 to be in the pool enclosure unless accompanied by someone 16 years of age or older.

 

Additional Tennis Protocols include: 

  • wash/sanitize your hands before and after your game;
  • bring your own water or sports drink;
  • maintain physical distancing whether you are on or off the court;
  • the recommendation that each player bring their own can of marked balls and uses his/her own balls when serving;
  • returning balls to the server using your racquet or your foot; not touching other tennis balls with your hands that are not marked with your initial/symbol;
  • arrive for your game as close to court time as possible and leave the court and property immediately after you play.

Craigleith Ski Club Members are automatically eligible to purchase Summer Program memberships - and we also have Annual Memberships for non-ski club Members.

Summer Program Membership is offered on an individual basis. Full membership includes tennis and pool privileges through the scheduled operating season; for tennis - May 16 (weather permitting) through October 14, (Thanksgiving weekend) and for the pool - from approximately late June to Labour Day weekend. Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Pool only memberships are available.

Tennis

Members have four options to reserve courts, online, telephone (705) 444-9217, email [email protected], or in person.   All reservations can be made 3 days in advance.  Check posted schedules as some courts are reserved for house leagues, lessons, junior camps and special events.  Please see Tennis Etiquette for more information.
Guest passes are $20.00 per day per adult and $15.00 for juniors, for both pool and tennis privileges.  Pool only passes are $10.00 per person, billable to the account of the Member who signs them in.  Individual guests must be accompanied to the pool by a Member or play with a Member and are restricted to 5 visits per year.  Appropriate attire for both tennis and pool is required and proper tennis footwear suitable for clay court surfaces must be worn.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

Looking for a little healthy competition? Sign up for our Members-only Club Championships, which will be held this summer, dates to be determined. Categories include Mens' and Ladies' Singles, Mens' and Ladies' Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Juniors.

ROUND ROBINS

Round Robins are scheduled for the opening weekend and closing weekend.  Open to Members and Guests.
  

HOUSE LEAGUES  - dates and times TBD

Meet Margot Allan, our Summer Program Manager and Head Pro. Margot Allan is a Tennis Canada Certified Level 2 Coach who has been coaching for 30+ years. She has been a traveling coach with the Ontario Tennis Association and has also been involved with coaching high-performance junior athletes. Plus, she was the Team Manager/Assistant Coach for the Ontario Tennis Team at the 2001 Canada Games, where her team won Gold! Before becoming a Tennis Professional, Margot competed and trained at an elite level in Ontario and was recruited to the US, where she played scholarship tennis for her College, competed at Nationals and was ranked in the Top 32 in the US her final year. Margot has been living, working and playing in the Blue Mountains for 18 years, actively coaching tennis at several locations in the Georgian Triangle. We are pleased to welcome John Long to the coaching team. John is a Level 3 coach and has many years of experience coaching adults and high performance juniors. John is available for lessons. Please email [email protected] to book a time.

COVID-19 continues to impact our community and physical distancing measures requires us to make careful decisions for when we are able to open. We will be implementing a maximum of 4 players per lesson court for drill clinics and junior lessons.

ADULT DRILL CLINICS

Adult Clinics are offered Mondays, 2 – 4, Wednesdays, 9 - 11 and Fridays, 9 - 10. Intermediate players, attend earlier sessions, when offered, more advanced attend the later sessions.

Cost: $20 / hr.
Package of 10 clinics: $120.00

 

JUNIOR LESSONS

Junior lessons are available on Saturday mornings starting July 4 until August 29.
Lessons for kids under 10 start at 10:00 a.m. and for kids 10 + at 11:00 a.m.
Maximum 4 participants.

Cost: $20.00 per child / hr.
Package of 6 clinics: $75.00

Junior Camps - Cancelled

After a detailed review of the provincial guidelines for Day Camps provided by the Ministry of Health, consultation with our provincial and national sport organizations, and thorough discussion amongst our management staff, we have concluded that at this time Craigleith will not be running any Mtn. Biking, Multi-Sport, and Tennis Camps this summer.

Based on the regulations and protocols, we are not set up to provide safe, fun and affordable day camp options. We will continue to monitor any changes in the regulations and protocols as the Covid-19 restrictions ease and may revisit the opportunity to run camps later this summer if it becomes prudent for us to do so. We thank everyone who has reached out with their interest and also for their support in the past with these camps and we hope you will consider these options in the future.

Learn the fundamentals of tennis, along with drills, games and match play in a fun and safe environment. Beginners to advanced players welcome. A refreshing swim is also included with a lifeguard/swim instructor. Learn about water safety and improve swimming skills. Biking, Multi-Sport, and Tennis Camps this summer.

Based on the regulations and protocols, we are not set up to provide safe, fun and affordable day camp options. We will continue to monitor any changes in the regulations and protocols as the Covid-19 restrictions ease and may revisit the opportunity to run camps later this summer if it becomes prudent for us to do so. We thank everyone who has reached out with their interest and also for their support in the past with these camps and we hope you will consider these options in the future.

Learn to swim or improve your skills in a safe and encouraging environment with our qualified aquatic instructors. Whether you are new to swimming or want to improve your swimming techniques, we have lessons for all ages and abilities.

Private lessons are designed to assist you to overcome fears or master a skill on a one to one basis, and allows for a flexible schedule.

Instructors Information

Hi there! My name is Marian Cooper and I have been competitively swimming since the age of 7, competing at the National level, and have always had a love for the water and the sport of swimming. I am National Lifeguard and Swim Instructors certified, having the ability to teach levels ranging from Preschool 1 to Bronze Medallion and have been teaching swimming lessons as well as lifeguarding at the Collingwood Centennial pool since April of 2015. I have also been coaching the junior competitive swimmers of the Collingwood Clippers for 7 years and have lots of experience giving technical swim instruction and working with children in a variety of settings. Looking forward to a great summer in the pool!

  • All swimmers must take a shower in the locker rooms before entering the swimming pool. 
  • No person infected with a communicable disease or having open sores on his/her body shall enter the pool
  • All swimmers must wear proper swimming attire.  No cut-offs, gym shorts, under-garments or street clothes may be worn in the swimming pool.
  • No food, drink (except water) will be allowed in the pool area.
  • Excreting bodily waste, spitting, spouting water, or blowing nose in the pool area is prohibited.
  • No person shall bring a glass container onto the deck or in the pool.
  • No running on the deck
  • No dangerous horseplay, tag, punching, or general “rough-housing” in pool area or in dressing rooms
  • No diving is permitted
  • No pets allowed

Please respect all members and guests and use appropriate language and volume.

Any infractions of Club rules will result in a warning and/or suspension of privileges at the discretion of Club management.

Each day the camp will include a variety of fitness enhanced programs from agility, paddle boarding, hiking, balance, core strengthening, swimming, tennis, games and mountain biking
